Hi there,

I can find several references in Library Data to Dulinor being elevated
to the position of Archduke by Emperor Strephon in 1104 as "an action
opposed by many of the nobility".  (MegaTraveller's _Rebellion
Sourcebook for example).

But nowhere can I find why either the action or Dulinor was opposed.

Does anyone know any source that says more?

Or does anyone have a theory?

Dulinor is mentioned as being part of the faction that was in favour of reforms - more democracy, stronger archduchies. He just decided that mere incremental reform wasn't enough and took a more extreme measure (which he then doomed to failure by being not following through all the way).
