In short, same as regular jump drive from the OTU.
I'm not sure whether to be impressed or dismayed at how little the
"meta" underpinnings changed between games and/or settings.

Yep, way back in the '70's, when SPI still published S&T magazine, there was editorial that maintained that "more complexity usually just makes things worse" as far as gaming was concerned. Unfortunately the OTU didn't 'get the memo'.
