The ALCTS Publisher/Vendor/Library Relations Committee welcomes all
those
attending the ALA annual conference in Chicago to a panel addressing
mergers
of both companies into bigger companies and libraries into consortia.
Participants will be discussing their own experiences as well as
concerns.
The subsequent discussion will then be directed by audience
participation.

"Merger She Wrote: Why Has the Plot Thickened?"
Monday, July 10, 2000
9:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m.
State Room, Fairmont Hotel

The panel will consist of:
Moderator: John Cox, John Cox Associates
Library Consortium: Adrian Alexander, Big 12 Plus Libraries Consortium,
Executive Director
Book Vendor: Gary Rautenstrauch, Baker & Taylor Institutional, President
Serials Vendor: Richard Rowe, Rowecom, Inc., President and CEO
Publisher: Jay Trolley, Director, Corporate Communications, ISI

Initial comments will be from about 5 to 7 minutes with a large
proportion
of the time period devoted to questions from the audience.
Representatives
from other businesses and libraries that have recently been involved in
mergers will also be invited by the committee to attend the panel and to
participate in the question and answer session if they desire. Before
the
program starts, attendees will be given 3x5 cards, which will be given
to
Mr. Cox, the moderator.

All are welcome to attend and participate. We look forward to an
engaging
and lively discussion.
