Donna-

There are 343 known library cats in the U.S.

See
Library Cats Map:
http://www.ironfrog.com/catsmap.html

And there is an actual Library Cat Society!

I would protest as someone who has become severely allergic to cats as an
adult. I do love them and used to have one when I was a kid (named Steve),
but simply can't touch or even be near one now.

Donna,

A trip to http://www.ironfrog.com/catsmap.html will take you to a map.
Click on any state in the map and you'll get a listing of that states
contribution(s) to the 343 Known Library Cats in the US. Most of the
listings include email addresses to contact someone at that particular
library. Write a few and see what comes about.
