Subject: New England Journal of Medicine

I don't know how wide-spread this problem is--we have yet to receive any
issues of the New England Journal of Medicine for 2002. Apparently they
neglected to enter several thousand renewals into their system! In
addition, our online connections were disconnected. We, the medical
libraries, are supposed to be patient while they get their mess straightened
out, but tell that to the medical faculty and students!

The publisher's latest act is that our subscription account reps can no
longer call them! They now have to send everything through a special
contact person!

I know many of you will think that I am overly upset and not being patient.
I have been patient for 6 weeks while med students and faculty have been
yelling because I knew my account rep was doing all she could to rectify the
situation. I no longer have that assurance, so the patience has ended.

My question is, how many on the list are having these problems? Possibly if
we all speak out on the list it may help. It's high time they get act
together. I hope they care what we think.

Sincerely,

Carol Feustel
