When I came here in 1994, I had many months of work relableing and
reshelving periodicals under their real names, as per LC cataloging.
The former librarian did not see fit to make these corrections. It was
a big job, but now we are happy that it was done.

Subject: Arrangement of current periodicals

My predecessor arranged the current periodicals by grouping serials
according to professional association rather than alphabetically. For
example, all of the ACM publications are shelved together followed by
the AMS journals. This creates problems for individuals not familiar
with our shelving scheme.

I am wondering how other libraries are displaying current periodicals,
alphabetically, LC classification or another scheme.

Thank you in advance for your input.
