SERIALS / INTERLIBRARY LOAN LIBRARIAN - Search Extended. Delta State
University seeks applications from energetic, service oriented
individuals for the position of Serials / Interlibrary Loan Librarian.
The library system is composed of three units with construction recently
completed on a major addition to and complete renovation of W.B. Roberts
Library. Sirsi iLink Electronic Library System is used. Library Services
includes eleven librarians, one archivist, thirteen support staff.

ENVIRONMENT: Delta State University, one of eight public institutions of
higher learning in Mississippi, has an enrollment of 4,000 students, of
which approximately 13% are engaged in studies at the graduate level.
The university provides a comprehensive curriculum, offering 15
baccalaureate degrees in 45 majors, nine master's degrees in nineteen
fields, the Educational Specialist degree, and the Doctor of Education
degree. Roberts Library contains more than 331,000 volumes, 795,000
microforms, 16,500 audiovisuals, 27,600 netLibrary books, 1,330 current
hardcopy journals, 5,185 electronic journal titles, is a selective U.S.
Government Documents Depository, and provides access to 101 databases.
The city of Cleveland is a friendly community of 15,000 individuals,

America."

RESPONSIBILITIES: coordinates and provides leadership in all serials
related activities, including acquisitions, bibliographic control,
collection management and binding, oversees a public service desk,
manages electronic journals and
supervises two staff members; oversees microform collection and
services; coordinates all interlibrary loan related activities and
supervises one staff member; participates in library outreach activities
and information literacy instruction; serves as liaison with selected
academic departments; assists with management of library Web Site.

REQUIRED: MLS from an ALA-accredited program; excellent oral, written
and interpersonal communication skills with a strong service
orientation; general knowledge of serials management and interlibrary
loan operations; knowledge and
experience with electronic information technologies; willingness to
continue education and professional development on the job.

HIGHLY DESIRED: professional experience with serials control using an
automated library system; professional experience with interlibrary loan
operations using OCLC; good working knowledge of MARC, AACR2, LC Subject
Headings and OCLC cataloging; knowledge and experience with Web
development.

12-month position with faculty rank and a tenure & promotion policy for
librarians. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience
and education, from $33,000. Excellent fringe benefits, including 100%
