When I saw this message, I forwarded it to our subscription agent, who
responded as follows and asked that I post her response to the listserve:

"...Thanks for sending me this message.

...don't think we intend to make it difficult. We only wish to inform our
customers.

As a rule when a journal moves to paid internet, we change all subscriptions
to print and notify customers to make a decision on whether their budget
allows them to pay for the online. If they want the online, we upgrade the
subscription to print + online.

In the case of CUP and as it was with OUP this year, they no longer offer
free internet. If a customer wants both, they need to notify us.

Subject: SwetsBlackwell and Cambridge University Press Online??

Hi all,

Just curious to know if any of you are experiencing this as well. Last week
we received notification from Swets that all of our print+electronic titles
from Cambridge would be renewed as print only and that we would have to
contact them about electronic access. But as far as I can tell, Cambridge
University Press has changed its price structure so that the
print+electronic is the default subscription but you can request a print
only or electronic only at a slight discount. So why is SWETS making it
more difficult to get print+electronic when that is the route the publisher
is going?
