Re: Periodical Holdings List Carol Morse 09 Oct 2003 17:46 UTC

We keep the files in WP, one for each letter of the alphabet. We update
it every summer. As titles are added, closed, cancelled, we make
corrections in red ink in the 2 lists in our department. Even with those
corrections missing in the other lists throughout the building, people
are happy to have the print list to refer to. If in doubt, they can
always refer to the online catalog. It's just more convenient to have a
print list instead of having to toggle between windows on a computer, or
take the time to search a title online.

I am interested in finding out if other libraries are still maintaining
a
print list of titles and holdings for their periodicals collection,
which is
used at the reference desk and other service points in the library. If
so,
how often do you update it?

Also, is there an electronic version of your list? In Access? etc.

Thanks in advance for letting our library know what others are doing!
