Assistant Head of Technical Services for Acquisitions and Serials

Primary purpose: Coordinate the Law Library's acquisitions and serials
operations, supervising one full-time support staff position and 1 to 2
part-time student assistant positions.

Duties: Reporting to the Head of Technical Services, the incumbent will

*       Coordinate the ordering, claiming, receipt, processing and
binding of new materials and ongoing publications, including Florida
state, U.S. and United Nations depository materials.
*       Coordinate the payment of invoices for materials received, using
the University Libraries' Innovative Interfaces system and the
University's Banner system.
*       Negotiate prices and services with vendors and publishers, to
ensure that the Law Library gets the best value per dollar spent.
*       Evaluate the service performance of vendors and publishers, and
make recommendations to Head of Technical Services regarding use of
these vendors and publishers.
*       Train and supervise staff assigned to perform Acquisitions and
Serials activities.
*       Serve as a member of Law Library's Collection Development Task
Force.
*       Provide reference services, including periodic weekend hours.

Qualifications:

*         Master's degree from ALA-accredited institution.
*         Recent acquisitions or serials experience (law library
experience preferred).
*         Recent experience using an integrated library system (III
preferred).
