The New England Technical Services Librarians (NETSL) annual Spring
Conference, "Metadata and Meaning: Creating the 21st Century Catalog", will
be held on Friday, April 8th at the College of the Holy Cross, Worcester,
MA.  The keynote speaker will be Edward T. O'Neill, Consulting Research
Scientist, OCLC, Inc.  His topic will be "FAST: a Subject Headings Schema
Designed for the 21st Century".  The afternoon speaker will be Grant
Campbell, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Information & Media Studies,
University of Western Ontario.  His topic will be "Redefining the Role of
Catalogers in the Age of the Semantic Web".  There will also be a choice of
breakout sessions focusing on user created metadata; FRBR and serials; MODS;
and cataloging skills beyond the traditional catalog.  Advance registration
