Evolving Publisher Business Models
ALCTS Serials Section Journal Costs Discussion Group

Saturday, June 25th
2-4pm Palmer House Salons VII-VIII

*Adam Chesler, Sales and Library Relations, American Chemical Society
(ACS)
*October Ivins, Digital Content and Access Solutions

The dynamics of being a not-for-profit, independent publisher are
complex in
today's economic climate. Current trends are driving decisions that,
in
spite of the best efforts of all participants, could lead in
unpredictable
directions. Adam Chesler will explain why publishers are reviewing
and
modifying their pricing models, and look at the impact these changes
may
have on subscription agents and libraries, using ACS's own recent
experiences as a practical example. October Ivins will share results
of her
market analyses, stimulating discussion and expanding our understanding
of
the issues that impact society and university press publishers.

Hope to see you there!
