The position reports to the Assistant Director for Technical Services and supervises two full time Library Technicians. Duties will include coordinating the ordering, renewal, receipt, payment, check-in, claiming, bibliographic maintenance, weeding, and binding of serials of all formats, including GPO materials. The position is highly collaborative and interacts with other library staff to ensure public access, resolve complex problems, train staff, monitor and evaluate vendor performance, and perform special projects. QUALIFICATIONS: Position requires an MLS from an ALA-accredited library school and at least 3 years professional experience working in technical services to include experience in serials management, staff supervision, and familiarity with integrated library systems. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills are a must. Experience in academic law library technical services operations, experience with Ex Libris Aleph 500 integrated library system, experience with a major bibliographic utility (e.g. OCLC), and knowledge of current cataloging rules, standards, practices and/or metadata are preferred. The selected candidate will have demonstrated supervisory abilities, the ability to learn quickly, take initiative, and problem solve, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently and as a team member in a high-demand and multi-tasking environment. Familiarity with database (e.g. ACCESS) and spreadsheet applications (e.g. EXCEL) preferred.
