The University of Texas at San Antonio Libraries is seeking an
energetic, innovative, service-oriented librarian for the newly created
position of Electronic Resources/Serials Cataloger. Recent graduates and
experienced catalogers are encouraged to apply.
Reporting to the Head of Cataloging, this position will provide original
and advanced copy cataloging of electronic resources and serials in all
formats, maintain expert knowledge of cataloging standards and
practices, manage the ER/Serials Cataloging Unit, and work
collaboratively with staff in other departments to maximize patron
access to electronic resources and serials. The ER/Serials Cataloger
will also participate in library committees and special projects,
particularly those related to cataloging, metadata, and bibliographic
control.

Minimum qualifications: Master’s Degree from an ALA-accredited library
Program;1 year professional cataloging experience in an academic
library, or 5 years at the paraprofessional level. Working knowledge of
AACR2, LCRI, LCSH, MARC21, and CONSER guidelines; familiarity with
Dublin Core and other metadata standards. Experience using OCLC
Connexion and an ILS; strong familiarity with web-based library
resources. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Supervisory experience. Preferred qualifications: Previous experience
cataloging electronic resources and/or serials. Experience with Endeavor
Voyager. Working knowledge of at least one foreign language. Experience
supervising full time library staff.
