Call for facilitators: NASIG 2007 User Groups and Informal Discussion Groups Bonnie Parks 24 Apr 2007 20:01 UTC

NASIG conference attendees and those considering attending this year's
conference:

Thanks for all your suggestions for the User Groups and Informal Discussion
Group topics for the 2007 annual conference in Louisville. We will be
announcing the topics shortly.

NASIG is still looking for a few more volunteers to convene Informal
Discussion Groups and User Groups.

The purpose of Informal Discussion Groups (formerly known as Networking
Nodes) is to promote discussion among NASIG attendees who have a shared
interest in a topic, idea, workflow, problem... The emphasis of these
sessions is open discussion and the generation of new ideas. Informal
Discussion Groups will take place over lunch on Saturday, June 2nd. We are
looking for volunteers to lead discussions on a host of topics that are of
interest to you! Want to hold an informal Electronic Resources librarian
roundtable? This is the place! Interested in the future of serials binderies
in an increasingly electronic world? Do you want to get a group together and
talk about social software? Got any tips and tricks for streamlining
e-journal workflow? Volunteer to facilitate a group!

In addition to informal discussion groups, there will be sessions dedicated
to user groups of a specific product or service. The purpose of these
sessions is to share product implementation or development experiences and
ideas. User Group attendees will have an opportunity to discuss topics of
common interest in a non-commercial setting. This year, user groups will
have two distinct sessions. The first session, on Friday, June 1st, from
3:15-4:15 PM, will focus on ERM products and services. On Saturday, June
2nd, from 4-5 PM, the sessions will involve other technologies and services
used by serialists. Are you using an ERM product? Are you planning to
implement a specific product? Volunteer to lead a discussion group and learn
from your peers.

Please contact Bonnie Parks (bonster@mit.edu) by May 4 if you are willing to
lead or co-lead a group.
