In this case the print format isn't actually ceasing, but if it were, the answer to the question would vary depending on whether you have separate catalog records for print and online. In our library we keep separate records. I usually handle these situations by ceasing the print and marking it continued by the online. The record then links to the online. If you have all formats on one record I would assume you would somehow mark that the print format ceased. Online publication is still publication by any meaningful definition of the term, and to call a serial "ceased" because it's no longer published in print (even though issues are still being published online) strikes me as crazy. --- Rick Anderson Dir. of Resource Acquisition University of Nevada, Reno Libraries (775) 682-5664 rickand@unr.edu > -----Original Message----- > From: SERIALST: Serials in Libraries Discussion Forum > [mailto:SERIALST@LIST.UVM.EDU] On Behalf Of Steven C Shadle > Sent: Tuesday, July 24, 2007 2:36 PM > To: SERIALST@LIST.UVM.EDU > Subject: Re: [SERIALST] Discontinued Hard-Copy Versions of Serials > > This is a good question that affects what we do with serial > records.
