The University of Richmond (www.richmond.edu), a nationally ranked
liberal arts university offering a unique combination of undergraduate
and graduate programs through its schools of arts and sciences,
business, leadership studies, law and continuing studies with
approximately 3,000 undergraduate students is seeking qualified
applicants for the position of Electronic Resources Librarian. The
University of Richmond seeks an enthusiastic and skilled Electronic
Resources Librarian to provide leadership, expertise and effective
management for the UR Libraries' electronic resources.

The Electronic Resources Librarian is responsible for managing the
library's electronic resources. This position offers an opportunity for
an energetic, service oriented librarian with strong communications
skills to provide e-resources and data management expertise to the
University Libraries. Based in the Bibliographic Access & Digital
Services unit, this position will work collaboratively with staff in
other areas including collection development, outreach and instruction,
library systems, and digital initiatives to identify, license and manage
ongoing access to a growing universe of electronic resources.  The
Electronic Resources Librarian reports directly to the Head of
Bibliographic Access & Digital Services, with a secondary reporting
relationship with the Collections Development Librarian.

Responsibilities:

*          Works with vendors regarding electronic resource technical
issues.

*          Provides feedback on technical compatibility with existing
technology and services infrastructure

*          Responds to, investigates, and resolves performance issues
related to access and maintenance of electronic resources

*          Provides access to electronic journals through support and
maintenance of A-Z and link resolver services (EBSCO)

*          Manages the libraries' ERM system (Ex Libris Meridian)

*          Works with the Emergent Technologies Librarian to maintain
the library's federated search tools (EBSCO WebFeat) and develop
consistency in the complex management of parallel technologies

*          Collaborates with Collections Development Librarian to ensure
that licenses and contracts and statistical analyses are fully
implemented for all electronic resources and assists with licensing
process.

*          Develops policy, writes procedures, designs and streamlines
e-resources workflow

*          Maintains current awareness of emerging trends in online
resource management

*          Serves on the Collections Development Committee

*          Serves 5 hours a week on the public service desk

The University of Richmond Libraries uses the Exlibris (formerly
Endeavor) integrated library system, Voyager, and its Meridian companion
electronic resources management products.

Requirements:

*          Master's degree in Library and Information Science from a
program accredited by the American Library Association

*          Demonstrated knowledge of electronic resources, vendors of
information resources and serials publishing industry

*          Proficiency with spreadsheets

*          Knowledge and experience with linkresolvers, federated search
tools, OpenURL syntax, HTML and XML

*          Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a
commitment to customer services

*          Effective interpersonal and communication skills

*          Ability to work collaboratively in groups as well as
independently with limited direction

*          Solid organizational skills

*          Commitment to using technology to advance work goals and
enhance service

*          Flexibility to handle multiple projects with varying
priorities and time lines

*          Aptitude for detail-oriented work

*          Preferred: 2 years experience with serials acquisitions and
or electronic resources in an academic library.
