Re: using bar code reader Kim Spencer 30 Jan 2008 14:37 UTC

Two years ago we started barcoding all of our periodicals, checking them into Horizon, which creates an item record. I have found the item record to be helpful in solving problems and during bindery. We are not currently checking out our periodicals, but once our bound volumes are done being barcoded, I believe we will be allowing check out of the periodicals. Then, the barcoding will be essential.

Is anyone using bar code readers or light pens to scan bar codes in
periodicals to check in journals into an ILS system such as SIRSI
