Do you use Ebsco as your serials jobber?  They have an excellent link in Ebsconet called "Access and Registration" with the beginning year of the online version - sorry no volume or issue number.  Once you know the year, though, you can usually find vol/iss on the journal site.  Here is the Access information for Worldviews on Evidence-Based Nursing:

GROWING - Content from 1997 to current, if available. Amount of content varies by title.
Access to paid content continues if subscription is not renewed.
Software requirements: Adobe Acrobat PDF Reader

Perhaps other jobbers offer the same information.  Perhaps this is what they mean by "just look online."  Hope this helps.
