On a somewhat related topic. My library has recently purchase online
backfiles to several major US newspapers. We would like to withdrawn
microfilm runs that overlap the archive. Do anyone know if there is a
market for used microfilm to be sold or donated.

We have greatly cut back out MF subscriptions, but we keep all of what
we do receive indefinitely. The titles we subscribe to are mostly core
newspapers and general interest magazines, and students need the
graphics/images not always available online.

We would only discard MF if the publication was available in a stable
archive like JSTOR. Hope this helps!

Does anyone have advice or a retention policy that they'd be willing to
share with me regarding discarding microfiche? We have a real space
crunch
here due to order fiche to replace bound journals that were are
discarding.
How long should we reasonably keep the fiche though? We are looking into
buying 2-3 additional fiche and film cabinets but we have finite amount
of
space dedicated to housing this material.

Thanks in advance!
