ABOUT THE COMMERCIAL DIGEST

SERIALST Commercial Digest pilot project: Since June 2008, the SERIALST
moderators have been experimenting with compiling and distributing a
Commercial Digest once a week, on Friday afternoons, with messages
containing informational content from commercial bodies (i.e.,
publishers, vendors, agents, etc.). The moderators review submitted
messages for informational content that may interest our subscribers. We
reserve the right to reject messages that are purely for advertising or
product/service solicitation, with little or no informational content
beyond the solicitation, as well as other content that are not within
the scope and purpose guidelines of SERIALST (see:
http://www.uvm.edu/~bmaclenn/serialst.html)

If you have thoughts or feedback about the Commercial digest, or other
aspects of SERIALST, please let us hear from you. Contact information
for the SERIALST moderators is at:

Cambridge, MA, January 9, 2009 - Emerald Group Publishing Inc. will launch its eBook series collections at the American Library Association Meeting in Denver, Colorado, January 23-25, and mark the first anniversary of the acquisition of the Elsevier books and book series undertaken a year ago.

Emerald has scheduled two sessions for attendees providing an orientation about the eBook series collections: Saturday, January 24, from 8:00 to 12:00, in the Curtis Hotel; and Sunday, January 25, from 8:00 to 12:00, in Room 608. Further information is available at ww2.emeraldinsight.com/ebookseries.

The Business, Management and Economics Collection includes 65 series titles. Featuring titles from the highly regarded JAI imprint, the collection offers access to a selection of 380 titles covering subjects such as strategy, accounting and finance, organizational studies and economics. The Social Sciences Collection complements and extends the current Emerald portfolio, with titles in sociology, education and psychology. This will add over 180 volumes across 37 series titles. Both collections offer international content from a worldwide author base, with new content to be added each year.

In addition to the new collections, the Emerald Insight platform has a new feature allowing users to search and browse in different collections, including All Content, Journals, Books, Bibliographical Databases, and Site Pages. Users can browse both journal and book series content either alphabetically or by subject, and the type of content is clearly displayed. Coming soon to the book series content are COUNTER usage statistics, Rightslink, and Document Outline.

To celebrate the launch of the eBook series collections, ALA attendees are invited to the Emerald booth (# 2518) for cake and drinks on Friday, January 23, from 5:30 to 7:30. Guitarist Dave DeMichelis will provide entertainment.

Meet the Editor sessions will be held on the Emerald booth: Saturday, January 24, from 10:00 to 11:00 with Steve O' Connor, Library Management; Sunday, January 25, from 10:00 to 11:00 with Eleanor Mitchell and Sarah Watstein, Reference Services Review and 1.00 to 1.30 with Kay Ann Cassell, Collection Building.
