With apologies for cross-postings:

Announcing an ALCTS Webinar: You want me to select for WHAT?: Getting
started in a new area

When: Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at 2:00 pm Eastern time (1:00 pm Central;
noon Mountain; 11 am Pacific Time)

Description: Librarians are often assigned collection development
responsibilities in subject areas with which they are unfamiliar and they
struggle to learn about new subjects, assess local needs, and identify
major publishers. This webinar will offer strategies, techniques, and
resources for coping with new or changed responsibilities for selection and
collection development.

Presenter: Virginia Kay (Ginger) Williams, Acquisitions Librarian at
Wichita State University where she is responsible for selecting in the
widely diverse areas of law and engineering.
