There was also a posting yesterday in the same Q&A forum: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/03/23/business/media/23talk-to-the-times.html?_r=2&hp Q. Will there be discounts for students? Libraries? People with fixed incomes? People on low incomes? Seniors? Site licenses and group rates? A. The Times has existing readership programs at more than 350 colleges and universities. Students at those schools will receive a discount on access to NYTimes.com. Libraries will eventually be covered under group accounts, which we are working to make available in the coming months. At this time, we do not have any special offers for faculty members, senior citizens or readers on a limited budget. At launch, however, special introductory offers will be available. Our university library wishes to subscribe to the digital New York Times for campus access. How can we do that now? Do you have pricing yet? A. Site licenses are not available at this time, but we are planning to offer them in the future. Please stay tuned. -----Original Message----- From: SERIALST: Serials in Libraries Discussion Forum [mailto:SERIALST@list.uvm.edu] On Behalf Of Downing, Jeffrey G Sent: Tuesday, March 22, 2011 7:10 AM To: SERIALST@LIST.UVM.EDU Subject: Re: [SERIALST] NYTimes.com no longer free Our EBSCO support contact says there is an institutional rolling 90-day plan for online access, but it has to be ordered direct. I've not yet been able to find anything about online institutional subscriptions on the NYT site. I did email their customer support department, and am awaiting a reply. Does anyone else have information on this? Since our transition from traditional microfilm to the ProQuest Digital Microfilm product (which has a 2-3 month lag time in filming), we have relied on our print subscription and NYTimes.com to fill the gap. Anyone else have plans or suggestions on how to proceed in light of the new fees? Thanks, Lori -- Lori R.
