Subject: The University of Chicago Press: Journals Moving to New Platform in 2016

<<Cross-posted>>

The University of Chicago Press, a premier publisher of scholarly journals in the social sciences, humanities, and general sciences, and Atypon, a leading provider of software to the scientific and scholarly publishing industry, are pleased to announce the launch of a new online home for the University of Chicago Press's portfolio of nearly 70 journals, using technology developed by Atypon. Chicago's new platform, due for release by the end of 2015, will enhance the rigorous and cutting-edge scholarship for which Chicago's journals are renowned with advanced search and information discovery capabilities; superior readability and accessibility; and research tools for scholars in all disciplines.

"The new platform will offer a suite of capabilities that will make it an ideal point of access for readers and researchers," said Michael Magoulias, Journals Director of the University of Chicago Press. "Our partnership with Atypon will offer readers and researchers access to scholarly journals that combines the latest developments in digital publishing technology with Chicago's expertise in peer review, production, and distribution."

Chicago is working to ensure a smooth transition of its content and subscribers to the new platform from JSTOR where, for the past several years, journals published by Chicago have been available as part of the JSTOR Current Scholarship Program, and where the complete back issues of all journals now published by Chicago will continue to be preserved and made available through JSTOR's archival collections. Details about the transition and 2016 subscription options are forthcoming.
