Featured Speakers

Karen Hersey is Intellectual Property Counsel for the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology.   Ms Hersey has served as
Director, Office of Technology Administration for the North
Carolina State University and as consultant to the Department of
Defense Government-Industry Advisory Committee on Rights in Data
and Computer Software.  She holds her JD from Boston University
and is admitted to the bar in Massachusetts and North Carolina.

Carol Risher is Vice President for Copyright & New Technology for
the Association of American Publishers.  Ms Risher represents the
U.S. publishing industry on the International Publishers
Copyright Council and the U.S. State Department Advisory
Committee on Intellectual Property.  She is currently responsible
for copyright enforcement efforts in nine countries and the
United States, and an instructor at the Howard University Press
Book Publishing Institute.

Arlene Bielefield is Director of the East Hampton (Connecticut)
Public Library and a professor at Southern Connecticut State
University, School of  Library Science & Instructional
Technology.  Ms Bielefield earned her JD from the University of
Connecticut.  Together with Lawrence Cheeseman, she has authored
a number of books, including Libraries and Copyright  Law (1993)
and Connecticut Legal Research Handbook (1991).

Lawrence Cheeseman is Supervising Law Librarian, Connecticut
Judicial Department.   His professional positions have included
service to private law practices and the New York State Supreme
Court Library.  Mr Cheeseman is past President of the Southern
New England Law Librarians Association.  Together with Arlene
Bielefield, he has authored a number of works for library
professionals.

Directions & Accommodations

North Dartmouth is located south of  Route I-195 (exits 12 or
12A), midway between Providence, RI and Cape Cod.  To the
southwest are the palatial "cottages" of Newport;  to the east,
the beaches of Cape Cod.  If you wish to extend your visit to
this area, please contact the Bristol County Convention and
Visitors Bureau, 508-997-1250, for visitors information and
accommodations.

Directions to North Dartmouth

Boston & points north: Route 128 to Route 24 south; at exit 12
take Route 140 south to exit 2, Route I-195 west; follow I-195
west to exit 12A (continued below)

Providence & points west: Route I-195 east to exit 12 (continued
below)

Exit 12 or 12A:  South on Faunce Corner Rd for 1 mile to Route 6
(State Road);  cross Route 6 and continue + mile.  Right on Old
Westport Rd.  Campus entrance is about 1 mile on the left.

Parking: Lots 8, 9, and 10 are available for parking; additional
parking is available in lots 6 and 7.

Please register in advance - on-site registrations cannot be
accepted.  Limit:  225
