Measurement of serial shelf space Crystal_Graham%UCSDLIBRARY.ucsd.edu@SDSC.BITNET 22 May 1994 22:19 UTC

Has anyone come up with a ballpark figure for how much shelf space the
"average" serial takes up? We are considering the possibility of pulling the
most recent 10-15 years of our journals from the stacks and putting them in a
journals room. Before we start calculating processing costs, moving costs,
etc., we'd like to figure out if they would fit. We thought we'd do a random
sample but would feel more secure if we had some benchmarks to compare with.
We are only moving journals (i.e., paper publications coming out more than once
a year that are later bound together), not all serials.

Please reply to me.
