reports. The incumbent is expected to manage the training and
implementation of online check-in, using NOTIS software, in the
departmental libraries. The Head of SAS serves as Columbia's primary
expert in the methods of acquiring and processing serials, monographic
series, and other standing orders.

experience; previous serials or acquisitions experience at a
professional level; knowledge of serials librarianship, serials
bibliographic records, and library automation; knowledge of business
practices and the ability to apply that knowledge to established
fiscal procedures; ability to work in a large, complex and changing
library environment; effective written and oral communication skills;
managerial and analytical skills; sound judgment; strong supervisory
skills; working knowledge of one or more European languages
(preferably one Romance and one Germanic) including the ability to
understand general business terms. Experience with NOTIS, OCLC and/or
RLlN, and experience in a large research library are desirable.
