     Lee Ann,

About three years ago, we had an extremely incompetent clerk in our
Accounts Payable Office. She dealt with the last half of the alphabet; EBSCO
got paid on time but Wert (our bindery) and UMI were really, really late.
As far as I know, we did NOT pay any late fee for either. UMI did stop
shipping us microfilm until the invoice was paid but I can't argue with that
decision from a business standpoint. (Receiving all that film on top of the
normal pile of mail for a week and half we were closed for Christmas was a lot
of fun!)

We had late charges appear on our Faxon statements earlier this year, but
a phone call got them removed. Our purchasing rules mean we always pay
late according to Faxon's expectations, but since it is state law they
are willing to wait for our checks.
