SERIALS LIBRARIAN for The Cleveland Museum of Art.

Responsibilities:  Plans and directs the activities of the
Serials area, including acquisitions, receiving, claiming, pro-
cessing, public service, binding and preservation.  Establishes
goals and priorities for the Serials area, formulates policies,
designs services and monitors workflow.  Responsible for super-
vision of one full-time assistant, work-study students and
volunteers, including hiring, training and evaluation.  Prepares
area budget and annual report.  Oversees cataloging of sales
catalogs in the SCIPIO database and advises Cataloger of special
cataloging considerations for serials.  The Serials Librarian is
responsible for the quality control of serial records in an
integrated, online system.  The Serials Librarian is also
responsible for general reference service as required.  Position
reports to the Assistant Librarian for Technical Services.

Qualifications required:  ALA-MLS, 2 years of experience in the
management of serial records in an integrated, online system
(Dynix preferred).  Familiarity with a bibliographic utility
(RLIN preferred).  Working knowledge of at least two foreign
languages.  Ability to communicate clearly, both orally and in
writing.  Strong problem-solving skills.

Qualifications preferred:  Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in art
history from a four-year college or university.  Direct
experience with commercial binding contracts and automated
binding functions.  Familiarity with preservation and con-
servation.  Demonstrated supervisory experience.  Knowledge of
national standards for bibliographic control and serials
holdings.

Salary:  Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
35 hour/week; excellent benefits.
