Short Story Criticism Bobbye L. McCarter 25 Feb 1998 14:05 UTC

Would those of you who have working knowledge of Papers on Language and
Literature (PLL) and/or The Yale Journal of Criticism let me know what you
think about either or both of these titles as sources of criticism on
short stories. We use primarily Studies in Short Fiction, Criticism,
Modern Fiction Studies, Notes on Contemporary Literature, American
Literature, Mississippi Quarterly in helping students find criticisms of
short stories - this is a major project for the second half of first year
English and they must locate journal literature.

In June of this year about half of our English faculty which teaches in
this area will be retiring and we have already noticed that the newer
faculty are assigning more recent short stories and locating criticisms on
them has been quite a challenge. When we have a sudden influx of new
faculty we want to be prepared for some changes in assignments.

Any help you can offer will be deeply appreciated. Any suggestions other
than the above two titles would also help. Thanks in advance for taking
time to assist me with this situation.

Please respond direct to me if you prefer: blm@canes.gsw.peachnet.edu.
