Quillen College of Medicine is accepting applications and nominations for an innovative and energetic individual to fill the administrative position of Director of the Medical Library/ Assistant Dean, Department of Learning Resources. The Library is located on the Veterans Affairs Mountain Home Campus at East Tennessee State University and occupies 26,400 sq.ft. with a staff of 4FTE faculty librarians and 8 technical/support staff. The individual will oversee and help develop goals and objectives for the Library and Department to support the educational and research endeavors in the Colleges of Medicine, Public and Allied Health, and Nursing. The Library also provides information resources to the surrounding medical community, affiliated hospitals and rural health sites. The individual must have an ALA accredited MLS degree or doctorate in a relevant discipline, documented library administrative experience in a univeristy or research facility, sound working knowledge of new information and computer technologies and their applications to libraries, a strong commitment to excellence in library services and excellent organizational skills. The individual must have academic achievements that would qualify for an associate professor or higher rank. The individual must also possess strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, be able to foster a team approach to managing the Library and Department, and be able to interact effectively with faculty and students in understanding their goals and the mission of the College of Medicine. The College of Medicine (www.qcom.etsu.edu), and University, (www.etsu.edu) are located in Johnson City in the upper northeast region of Tennessee. The College serves the Tri-Cities (Johnson City, Bristol, Kingsport) and surrounding regions in providing primary and specialized health care. The University is a regional state-supported institution serving approximately 12,000 students. The scenic area supports a greater metropolitan population of approximately one million within a seventy-five mile radius. Applications will be accepted immediately and the search will remain open until a qualified individual is identified. This is a 12- month, full-time administrative position with faculty rank (minimum salary $65,000).
