JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

Serials and Acquisitions Librarian/Instructor or Assistant Professor.
Baruch College.

DUTIES:  Manages the acquisition of library materials in all formats,
including subscription electronic resources.  Maintains library holdings
records.  Supervises binding.  Prepares expense reports and budget
projections.  Assists in developing policies and implementing procedures
for the acquisition and processing of incoming materials using automated
systems.  Supervises five full-time staff in addition to student
assistants. Works with the CUNY Office of Library Services office to insure
that the acquisition and processing of new titles is timely and efficient.
Serves as the liaison to an academic department with responsibility for
collection development, web page content development, and reporting to the
library on the information needs of the faculty and students.  Reports to
the Head of Technical Services.

REQUIREMENTS: MLS from an ALA-accredited library school.  An additional
master�s degree or a doctorate is required for appointment as an Assistant
Professor.  Experience in serials or acquisitions, preferably in an
academic library.  Knowledge of current library systems.  Ability to meet
the responsibilities and requirements of a tenure-track appointment,
including research, publishing, and involvement in professional
organizations.

SALARY:  Instructor:  $27,454 - $40,267
          Assistant professor:  $29,931 - $40,440, depending on
