The Associate Dean serves as the college's chief administrator for the delivery of library, media, and computing services to students, faculty, staff and the community. The Associate Dean provides leadership, knowledge, and vision in the development and implementation of programs and services for the Library, Media Services, Instructional and Administrative Computing, and the Teaching and Learning Center. The position reports to the Vice President of Instruction. The Associate Dean must have demonstrated leadership, knowledge, and vision in: library reference services; curriculum development in information literacy; library/media print and non-print collections; library and media support for distance learning programs; management of campus computing systems; current technologies related to libraries, media centers, general instruction and administration; maintaining a professional development center for faculty and staff including the development and implementation of technological and pedagogical curricula. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Duties will include but are not limited to the following: provide support with recruitment, orientation, supervision and evaluation of all managers, professional/technical exempt employees, faculty and staff of the division; develop and manage all budgets associated with division responsibilities; coordinate with the Library/Media programs on the other campuses in the District; coordinate with other Associate Deans in program development, community/business partnership and grant proposals; participate in college and district efforts in planning and implementation of instructional and administrative goals; serve as the chief copyright officer of the college; serve on appropriate college, regional, and state committees; provide the college with planning and evaluation instruments to facilitate future technological development; and perform reference service. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree or equivalent in libary science from an ALA accredited institution; two years of increasing responsibility in the administration of library, media or computing services; excellent communication skills and ability to work well wth others; demonstrated service commitment and experience with people of diverse educational, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated experience in fiscal and program management; demonstrated experience with issues and trends related to library and educational technology; current experience and use of software and hardware relevant to information technology; demonstrated experience regarding the professional development of faculty and staff; recent experience in a higher education institution; experience in library reference services and/or teaching.
