Subject: centralized vs decentralized check-in

We are a university with an enrollment of near 16,000 and we have two
branch libraries. Our ILS is NOTIS. So far we have a centralized
check-in meaning that the serials for the two branch libraries are
checked in at the main library and then sent across campus via campus
mail service. There is an upcoming discussion regarding letting the
branch libraries do their own checking-in. I'd like to hear from any
who have done this. I'll summarize for the list if there's interest.
AND...is the mail sent directly to the branch libraries by the
publisher? Do they do their own claims? What are the biggest pros and
cons? Thanks for any input.
