Director of Sales and Marketing
Responsibilities. Plans and administers all marketing and sales
programs, including disbursement of sales funds and planning of
regional conference participation. Works with members to enhance
and support their participation in consortium activities.
Coordinates communication with membership, including
development of web site for marketing purposes.
Directs three professionals and two support staff, serves as
member of senior management team, and reports to the Executive
Director. Position open June 1, 1999.
Environment: NELINET is a non-profit consortium that promotes
resource sharing and interlibrary cooperation among over 550
academic, public, corporate and special libraries in the
six New England states. NELINET markets and sells OCLC
bibliographic products and services, provides consulting and
training services, and sells and supports consortium purchasing
of products, electronic information resources, and services.
Qualifications. Preferred: sales, marketing, or promotional
experience, particularly for non-profit associations; record of
providing services that emphasize member satisfaction;
demonstrated management and leadership skills; an understanding
of the needs of libraries; ability to develop creative programs,
services and solutions; current knowledge of OCLC
programs and library practice; superior interpersonal and oral and
written communication skills; flexible management style; high
energy level; able to listen effectively to the needs of clients;
sense of humor; MLS, MBA or relevant masters degree.
