SERIALS AND ELECTRONIC RESOURCES CATALOGING LIBRARIAN -- Revised Posting PENN STATE UNIVERSITY LIBRARIES seeks an energetic and creative Serials and Electronic Resources Cataloging Librarian. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate is expected to assume leadership for providing access to serials and electronic resources; to keep abreast of current trends related to serials and electronic resources cataloging; to work closely with and serve as the resource person to the Serials Cataloging Team; and to perform original cataloging of serials and electronic resources. Duties include developing collections in a selected discipline or language, as appropriate. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: ALA-accredited MLS; minimum two years of recent post-MLS serials cataloging experience in an academic or research library or an equivalent; strong knowledge of CONSER, AACR2rev, LCRIs, LC classification, LCSH, and USMARC formats; experience with an automated cataloging environment and a bibliographic utility, preferably OCLC or RLIN; experience with and strong interest in electronic resources cataloging; working knowledge of one European language; proven analytical and problem-solving skills; strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience with NACO, knowledge of current information technologies, and training experience. Evidence of potential for promotion and tenure will be considered. SALARY AND BENEFITS: This is a tenure track faculty position. Salary and rank commensurate with experience.
