For the little story, The Expanse is a book series, on which the TV show
is based, and it is based on a the world building and characters from a
homebrew RPG campaign run by Ty Franck (one half of James SA Corey, the
pen name of the writers of that series), so much that according to Ty
Franck, several of the character names are the name of PC from his
campaign, directly chosen by the players. Daniel Abraham (the other
half) was a player at one point.

Things have come full circle.
