Disclaimer: I did a read through and offered comments on a draft version of the
manuscript, but have not gotten a completed copy.

I have no direct insight to the thinking of Matt and the Mongoose team but I
suspect the following factors in this.

The Trojan Reaches are Mongoose's "home sector". They have a major campaign set
in the sector which covers only a few subsectors. So building out the rest of
the sector with something interesting and dramatic is high on their list.
Mongoose has frozen their Traveller Timeline to 1105. There was a mention or two
of advancing through the FFW, and that may be a forthcoming book as well.

Christopher Griffen has written several other book for Mongoose, meaning Matt
is much more likely to accept and publish a manuscript. It's also the case the
Chris completed the manuscript.

The book (or the draft I read) does contain explanations of why the GE lasted
for a thousand years. And notes that in the Rebellion timeline the GE gets
smashed into tiny bits.
