(semi)-canonical Ziru Sirka UWPs? Alex Goodwin 09 Jul 2021 18:11 UTC

Hi all.

This has been bugging me for a bit, so might as well ask the Honourable
& Learned Membership if I'm on a hiding to nothing.

Does anyone know where I can lay my mitts on even semi-canonical
late-1I-era UWPs for the Ziru Sirka?

Polity-scale maps aren't really an issue (
https://wiki.travellerrpg.com/images/thumb/d/dc/Ziru_Sirka_%28-2422%29.png/400px-Ziru_Sirka_%28-2422%29.png
, for example), but I'm wanting world-level detail to the point of at
least being able to use the GT:ISW rules to generate trade maps.

This isn't necessarily for Parental Advisory, per se - I'm not sure that
particular game, founded as it as on the stereotypical boatload O'
ethically-challenged merchants (I was trying to be professional about
it, and thus stack the deck as far as I could in my favour at the time -
according to player feedback, I've succeeded wildly) could, or should,
scale up too far beyond its current level.

However, both times they've jumped on unrefined fuel have resulted in
spectacular misjumps (the most recent involved jumping from just inside
0.5 planetary diameters - below a gas giant's cloud tops, as El Capitane
figured incoming nuclear missiles have right of way), so I wouldn't mind
hedging against Sod's Law.

I'd also like (given what players have been saying) to start some prep
work on either a follow-on or parallel campaign, or possibly even (DUN
DUN DUN!) _play_ Trav for the first time in my life.

In the event such (semi-)canonical data isn't available... sigh.  Best
plan I've got there to fill in the gaps (and give the Honourable
Membership a giggle or two) is:

0 - Pull physical UWP components off TravellerMap.

1 - Swear at the dumb wombat who didn't write a computer program to do
step 0.

2 - Write computer program to do step 0.

3 - Write program to automagic the needed bits of the world-gen gubbins
from GT:ISW.

4 - Swear.

5 - Debug the program written in 3.

6 - Feed the output of 5 to traveller_pyroute.

7 - Swear.

8 - Retry 6 with ISW-era appropriate route settings.

9 - Swear.

10 - Add the result of 5 to the existing canonical ISW-era information.

11 - Feed result of 10 to traveller_pyroute with ISW-era settings.

12 - ???

13 - TRAVELLER!
