Ziru Sirka cash? Alex Goodwin 18 Nov 2021 06:13 UTC

I was talking to Eddles and trying to flesh out some events in Old Joe's
background, and one that proved a minor sticking point was the dodgy old
bastard's (Joe, not Eddles) involvement in an Ocean's X-style heist on
the coreward side of the border back before IW1.

One of Joe's many contacts, one Warragul Wirrpanda, played the role of
whoever-is-named-Ocean and put together such a heist targeting a casino
whose owner had really brassed him off.  "He's an asshole!" may have
been sufficient reason.

I'm not sure how much to leave as a Noodle Incident ("Remember the Lucky
Eights?"), but part (may not have even been the main event) of the heist
involved obtaining a nontrivial supply of free-enterprise (ie,
counterfeit) cash, gaining access to one of the count rooms, and
switching the official boodle for the free-enterprise stuff.

The miscreants (Warragul, Joe, et al) did a fast fade with the official
boodle plus other ill-gotten gains, and smuggled boodle + gains aboard
the liner they had booked passage on.

Said liner had lifted and cleared local jurisdiction (10 planetary
diameters - couldn't remember if there was anything canonical about the
ZS, so I lifted the value from the 3I), before local law enforcement
were asking the casino owner to kindly explain where all this
free-enterprise cash had come from, after the casino's bank had reported
it - for some weird reason, governments don't like free-enterprise
versions of their currency floating around.  Smugging probably ensued
afterwards.

Said sticking point was, what are the major denominations and dimensions
of scrip that would be circulating in the Rim Province?

And, after writing this, would there be any functional difference
between central-government scrip and Sharurshid scrip?  How about
Makhidkarun or Naasirka scrip?

Keeping in mind that, IIRC, you need 4 attache cases to carry a million
quid in 50 pound notes, Eddles was naturally asking about how said
miscreants reduced the volume of their loot (besides converting it to
negotiable instruments).  I was annoyed I didn't have a solid answer.
