I'm reminded of the weird starship in the CT adventure 'Annic Nova'.

It had a solar 'sail' that could be deployed & used to charge the jumpdrive accumulators.

At the time I remember thinking, "WOW, that sail must be *some* kind of efficient!

As best I remember it took some weeks but that's still one heckuva' lot of energy.
