Position: Serials Cataloger
Harvard Law School Library
Cambridge, Massachusetts
Part-Time (20 hours)

Duties and Responsibilities:
Catalogs serials in English and other European languages, in various
formats, including print, microform, and electronic, using AACR2, LC
subject headings, LC and local classification systems, CONSER editing
guidelines and the RLIN and OCLC bibliographic utilities. Edits
contributed
copy. Contributes authority information to HOLLIS and to LC Name
Authority
File via NACO. Compiles and encodes serials holdings information in MARC

format. Works on recataloging and reclassification projects. Maintains
serials cataloging backlog. Keeps abreast of developments in serials
cataloging. Serves on committees in the Law Library and Harvard
University
Library system as appropriate.

Required:
MLS from an ALA accredited library school; two years experience
cataloging
serials in a large academic library; good reading knowledge of at least
one
European language; solid working knowledge of RLIN or OCLC and
familiarity
with US MARC holdings format and NACO procedures.
