Opportunity to develop and implement electronic access to print and electronic serials in a state-of-the-art system. Provide leadership in developing, documenting, and implementing serials policies and procedures. Train staff in serials processing. Assist cataloging staff in solving cataloging problems. Catalog serials using Endeavor, OCLC, the MARC formats for bibliographic and holdings records, AACR2, LCSH, CONSER, and LC rule interpretations. Supervise addition of holdings information using ANSI standards and Endeavor check-in. Maintain local holdings in OCLC union list. Explore ways to represent aggregated electronic serials holdings in Endeavor. Monitor such materials as updates to MARC formats, CONSER documents, and e-mail discussion lists such as AUTOCAT and SERIALST. Keep current on revisions to cataloging rules and trends in cataloging practices. Use combination of outside vendor and Endeavor for authority control. Participate in instruction, reference, liaison work and departmental meetings and deliberations, and participate on library and university committees. Perform or participate in special projects or related duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: Master's degree from an ALA-accredited library school. Experience with automated library systems, preferably Endeavor and OCLC. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work independently and with others. Self-motivated individual who has an interest to work in an environment that emphasizes peer responsibilities and relationships.
