Position Announcement: "Continuing Resources Cataloger Librarian"
Wanted: a self-motivated service-oriented cataloger to work in a
growing and changing technological environment.
Responsibilities: Performs original and complex copy cataloging of the
Library's continuing and integrating resources in all formats; Resolves
complex cataloging problems; Maintains database records; Resolves
holdings problems; Establishes library policy and practice for
continuing and integrating resources; Serves as the cataloging resource
person for continuing and integrating resources; Catalogs other non-book
non-serial materials as required; Performs supervisory functions as
Requirements: MLS degree from an ALA accredited program; Working
knowledge of current national cataloging standards including AACR2,
LCRI's, LC classification, LCSH, the MARC 21, and OCLC; Familiarity with
CONSER guidelines and practices and the MARC Format for Holdings;
Excellent analytical, communication, organizational and problem solving
skills; Ability to work independently and as part of a team; Proficiency
with computer applications in libraries.
Preferred: Two years recent professional cataloging experience using an
automated system in an academic library, with experience using
Innovative Interfaces highly desirable; Knowledge of current metadata
