ALA Midwinter meeting in San Diego, California next month.
Following is a summary of the NISO programs. Additional

NISO Annual Meeting and Program
Featured Speaker: Bruce Perens
Sunday, January 11, 2004
Time: 4:00pm-6:00pm
Location: U.S. Grant Hotel, Pavilion Ballroom
Be prepared to be informed and inspired! You'll get the
"nuts and bolts" on NISO's activities, meet NISO's new
chairperson, Jan Peterson, and get a full report on NISO's
standards development agenda from Pat Stevens, chair of
the NISO Standards Development Committee. Guest speaker is
Bruce Perens, a leader in the Open Source movement. Bruce
is passionate and informed on the changes transforming the
information technology landscape. Like that little drop of
water steadily falling on a rock, Open Source is having an
impact on the IT infrastructure. The word on the street is
that any CIO without an open-source strategy will be
paying too much for IT. What's ahead for your company and
our community? This event is free and open to all. No
registration is required. Invite your staff and colleagues
to join us for this important session. Media welcome.
Additional information on Bruce Perens available at:
