                                            REFERENCE LIBRARIANS (two
positions) General Description: Due to retirements, the Albertsons
Library has two professional Reference Librarian vacancies in the
Division of Reference Services. The Reference Librarians work under the
direction of the Coordinator of Reference Services. Each librarian
provides reference services in both print and electronic formats;
participates in collection development as liaison to academic
departments; and has responsibility for bibliographic instruction and
orientation sessions. Responsibilities include regular late evening and
rotating weekend reference desk duty, and participation in a live-chat,
virtual reference service module. In addition to the duties listed
above, the first position, currently vacant, includes increased
responsibility in Library collection management and will work closely
with the Coordinator of Collection Development. Familiarity with
collection assessment tools and methods is very desirable. The second
position, available in July, 2005, provides oversight of a one-credit
library skills class. Candidates invited for an on-campus interview
should be prepared to provide a 20-30 minute presentation such as would
be expected for a bibliographic instruction session for college
students. Minimum Qualifications: Masters degree from an ALA accredited
graduate program in Library Science; good communication skills, and the
ability to work collaboratively with professional, paraprofessional, and
classified staff. Preferred Qualifications: Additional graduate degree
in a science discipline; experience in providing reference service
through electronic media; broad educational background; the ability to
read or speak any non-English language. Salary and Appointment: Minimum
salary: $38,000. Comprehensive benefit package. Positions are
tenure-track faculty appointments. Application Information: Send
electronic letter of application, resume, and the names, addresses and
