A nice puzzle! I checked the Ulrich's record - not completely authoritative, but useful. The current title, Percussive Notes (0553-6502) has a start date of 1961 in their record. Sometimes reading the Ulrich's title history with the ISSNs helps me to understand what happened. Here it is: Title History: Incorporates (in 1983): Percussive Notes. Research Edition (United States) (0749-1344); Which was formerly (until 1982): Percussive Notes. Research Edition, Percussionist (United States) (0749-1336); Which superseded in part (in 1980): Percussionist (United States) (0553-6499); Whic incorporated: Percussionist and Percussive Notes (United States) (0031-5168) I don't have this title or the related records, so I'm not going to try to interpret this. For the linking entries to work, the last record would have started in 1982 or 1983 (at least in my mind) Each of the four records have been authenticated by nsdp lc -- I'm hoping someone has these issues in print and can update the record(s) appropriately. I can change them in my local catalog, but that doesn't help the next person with the question... Cheryl -- *Cheryl Riley*, Ed. Spec., M.L.S., M.B.A., B.B.A., A.A *Professor & Librarian * James C.
