Under the leadership of a new University Librarian, the Libraries are pursuing a learner-centered reorganization and will implement the Voyager library system in August 1998. The University of Louisville is Kentucky's metropolitan university serving 22,000 students and the largest urban area of the state. For more information about the University, the University Libraries and the Louisville area, see web sites at http://www.louisville.edu and http://www.louisville.ky.us Responsibilities Within a team-oriented environment, assist in acquiring and providing access to electronic resources. Provide cataloging, primarily for electronic resources. Assist with licensing for electronic resources to assure that resources are available. Plan and execute projects/ initiatives. Assist with evaluating procedures pertaining to cataloging, authorities, and acquisitions. Perform liaison responsibilities with teaching faculty through Library Liaison Program. Participate in supervision and evaluation of team members. Minimum Qualifications ALA-accredited MLS; minimum of one year experience in an academic or research library setting; knowledge of automated bibliographic control; experience with an integrated online library system; demonstrated knowledge of AACR2, LCSH, MARC formats, and guidelines under development for electronic resources; strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; commitment to enhancing public access to library resources; strong service orientation; ability to manage change and work in a team environment; potential for scholarship in meeting university promotion requirements. Desired Qualifications Supervisory experience; acquisitions experience in an academic library. Minimum salary $27,000. The University of Louisville has an attractive, comprehensive benefits package.
