I should know better than to click on any NSFW link you post, even if I'm
at home...

However, this does remind me of another example (in literature, not
illustrated) of swimwear that I recall that does not conform to current
most-of-Euro-American-culture-al norms for swimwear and exposure. In "The
Wheels of If", by L. Sprague de Camp, the protagonist, Allister Park, from
a world much like our own, finds himself in the body of Bishop Ib Scoglund
of the Celtic Christian Church in New Belfast, Vinland, in a world where
King Oswiu of Northumbria chose Celtic Christianity over Roman at the Synod
of Whitby (AD664) and the Franks lost the Battle of Tours (AD732).

In one scene, Park/Scoglund (just Park, henceforth) is on a beach, where
all of the beach-goers are wearing nothing but thin belts around their
waists. Park doesn't see these belts as swimwear covering for decency, and
strips for a swim, quickly getting arrested for 'shameful outputtery'
(indecent exposure; Vinland English wasn't as badly contaminated by French
as in our world - but let's not look at that too closely...). In court,
Park rolls a spectacular success in Fast Talk, during which scene it is
revealed that those belts are, in fact, necessary for decency - one simply
does not permit one's navel to show in public.

(ObTrav: Should be obvious, after Leonard's/Shadow's previous post...)
