It was still a reckless, but effective, thing to do, and this was near the start of Roger proving that he wasn't just a useless fop (having never really gotten the chance to live up to the family name until then, only his jerk of a father's). ... they're fun books, I like 'em. A series of grand adventures and remarkable journeys, Roger's personal development possibly first among them.
